Do not watch The Kashmir Files
Because THIS IS NOT A FILM!
This film does not have a single hero Neither does he have any romance with a heroin.
There are no songs after every 10 minutes. Moreover, no talk show has promoted this film.
SO BASICALLY, THE KASHMIR FILES IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. RIGHT!
This is not a film review.
You decided whether The Kashmir Files is a good film yourself.
BUT THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FILM
I thought a lot about whether I should write this article. Writing this article was very difficult for me as well.
You’ll understand by the end of this article.
Because The Kashmir Files is not a film, It is a truth that needs to reach to you And that truth is
WE WANT TO LIVE IN A COMFORTABLE WORLD.
Forget about what has happened. The past is meant to be forgotten. We believe in this saying.
But we fail to understand SOME WOUNDS DON’T HEAL WITH TIME!
The Kashmir Files is a story of two days. Today, where people like you and me live And the second is that black day. 19th January 1990.
A day that Kashmiri Pandits still relive.
That day when they were forced out of their own homes with a muzzle placed at their heads to get them to comply.
Let me tell you THE KASHMIR FILES IS NOT A FILM! because AS THERE IS NO HERO! ALL THE CHARACTERS ARE VILLAINS.
The Government simply looked the other way. It kept giving excuses.
The media held victims responsible for the atrocities.
The Police kept watching as crimes took place. And all of us turned away from the truth for 30 years.
The youth today is like you and me who just want a normal life but he got CONFUSED! because we believe we should listen to all sides of the argument. We give a chance to people whose opinions differ from us. And taking advantage of this very fact some factions of the society manipulate the youth. They force us to forget our roots and our history.
The Kashmir Files IS A REMINDER THE WORLD ISN’T INNOCENT.
We need to dig for the truth ourselves. We need to take responsibility for it ourselves.

This is not a film! IT IS A MUSEUM!
Some incidence in the film are so shocking that you wonder how one can do this to their neighbor.
But the filmmaker provides proof of the real life incident.
TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION
That is the role that art plays in society.
Art brings truth in front of you regardless of how bitter the truth is to swallow.
Let me explain you.
There is a famous film called Schindler’s List which is directed bu Steven Spielberg. Which is about Jews and Polish stuck in Holocaust.
This film war the Academy Award And if you check IMDb this film finds a place in Greatest Movies of All Times.
Because by using cinema as a medium the filmmaker keeps a part of history alive. It shares the pain of the Jewish people to the current generation who is lucky to not experience it.
I salute the Jewish people Because even decades after World War II They kept the truth of their brutalities alive.
The Nazis have gone today. There is no Holocaust today.
Why then is this topic spoken about repeatedly?
Because they believe in this
“FORGIVE BUT NEVER FORGET”
As Indians, we need to do this as well. We need to understand this There is nothing to be ashamed of in this.
I don’t think The Kashmir Files is just a film, Because the Kashmir Files is that cry for help which was pushed under the bed for 30 years by the media.
The atrocities were down played for 30 years which is now coming up to the surface.
THE KASHMIR FILES IS NOT A FILM! IT IS AN EXPERIENCE!
I don’t know about you, But I don’t mind standing for the National Anthem before a film. In fact, I like it.
In school, we sang Jana Gana Mana keeping aside our differences. there was a feeling of togetherness. I feel that.
When I saw The Kashmir Files in the theatre People not only stood up for the National Anthem they sung it together.
Were The Paid Agents?
Did anyone give them biryani or perhaps popcorn?
That voice came from their hearts.
Talking about this makes my hair stand up, But when I saw this film I felt a sense of duty.
Today the truth is bringing people out of the comfort of their homes making them spend Rs. 500 bringing them to the cinema hall needs tactics.
Going to talk shows is one formula. Spreading news of an affair between the leads is a formula.
But without fake hype only on the basis of the story bringing people to cinema halls is an achievement.
I firmly believe… A movie is something that MOVES you And The Kashmir Files is successful in this matter…
LET’S COME BACK TO THE FIRST POINT
WHY WRITHING THIS ARTICLE WAS TOUGH?
I couldn’t sleep all night after watching this film. I kept thinking all night about what happened to the Kashmiri Pandits then. I had only one question to myself and my country
WHY DID IT TAKE 30+ YEARS TO MAKE THIS FILM?
Bringing the story of Kashmiri Pandits to the country, Why didn’t any star have the guts to talk about this.
DO THEY BELIEVE THE INCIDENCE ISN’T TRUE?
DO THEY NOT CONSIDER THEM AS THEIR OWN?
WHAT WERE THEY SCARED OF?
India produces the most films across the world. Tthe same story is recycled and made again and again.
So why was this story hidden?
Did nobody think it was. In the end, all I want to say is THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW ABOUT THIS NEED TO WATCH. THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T KNOW ABOUT THIS DEFINITELY NEED TO WATCH.
You should see the reactions of people And you need to ask yourself this question
Is this reaction, are these tears propaganda? Or is it a truth that is suffocation for 30 years.
A film’s purpose is not to whitewash the events. It is mint to push boundaries.
These films are special because They move beyond the screen and ask you a question ” THE THING
“THAT YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE WATCHING ON SCREEN ARE THE THINGS THESE PEOPLE WENT THROUGH!”
That is what The Kashmir Files does. It asks you a question When will we stop covering our past.
Do not watch The Kashmir Files if you like whitewashing. Do not watch The Kashmir Files if you can’t stomach an uncomfortable and disturbing truth. Do not watch The Kashmir Files If you can’t watch others suffering.
BUT DO WATCH THE KASHMIR FILES If you think that just like everyone else even they deserve to have their stories told.
And sharing this simple message with you makes a difference to me!
SHARE THE TRUTH
